Flu, Flu Go Away!

If you have caught the flu, you want to do everything you can to help yourself to feel better and to get over it as quickly as you can. Following the tips provided in this article will help you to get through it easier and hopefully faster than you would have otherwise:

Take in a lot of fluid

Even if you don't feel thirsty, make it a point to take in fluids around the clock. These fluids should include plenty of water and something with electrolytes. You can also drink a small amount of citrus soda throughout the day to help settle your stomach as well. Remember to take small drinks and allow a few moments to pass before taking another. This way, you will have a better chance of holding the fluids down.

Monitor your temperature

When you're sick, it can be hard to know what your temperature is. You should keep a thermometer near you and use it every few hours. If you have a mild fever, let it go. A mild fever is your body's way of helping to fight off infection and illness. However, once your temperature gets to 103 then you should take something to bring it down. This gives your body the chance to fight the flu, but also prevents your fever from getting too high. Stay dressed in light clothing and only cover with a sheet if you feel the need to cover up. A blanket will be too hot when you are trying to fend off a fever.

Take a warm bath

You may want to consider taking a comfortably warm bath when you are suffering from flu symptoms. A nice bath will help to relive aching muscles that can come with the flu. If will help you to feel better in general and this will help make it easier to get through the flu until you get over it.

Try to get in to see the doctor right away

As soon as you start to feel as if you may have the flu, you should try to get in to the doctor right away. There is a medication that can significantly decrease the flu symptoms and decrease the length of time you have to suffer with the flu. However, this medicine needs to be administered within a certain number of hours from the onset of symptoms in order for it to be effective.
